I received an email from a good soul who said: “I appreciate your work, but my inbox is flooded with too much mail!” They were asking to be taken off the distribution email list. I can relate. So I want all of you to know that you have only to request that you be taken off the email list and it will happen. However, I encourage you to visit my website soulnugget.com in case you ever want to revisit various posts.

On June 25, 2013, the Robert’s Supreme Court struck down major parts of the Voting Rights Act declaring racism dead in our country.

Can you imagine that? Really? What about the explicit racism seen in Ferguson? What about the fact that the exploitation seen in Ferguson is said to be a common problem in the US? Are there any of you who really think racism is dead in our country?

On March 7, 1965, 600 demonstrators were attacked with billy clubs and tear gas on the Edmund Pettus Bridge – named for a grand dragon of the Ku Klux Klan. 17 people were hospitalized. John Lewis with a skull fracture. About 50 years later, John Lewis, our President and 40,000 people crossed the bridge.

I say the work of Selma and all those who marched over all the years is not yet over. There is more work to be done. Those who really love America will join in this work. More of us need to cross that bridge, to join hands and hearts in singing and living out the message of this song.

We are all sparks of the Divine flame
Blessed Be
Compassionate Be
Boldly Be
